An Affliction.

AN AFFLICTION.

My love is gone- for once
And for ever.
She shall never touch me again
Until we meet in paradise.

Conjoiner, rejoinder, concealer, revealator
Look at her taking: everything with her.
But she shall shine brighter in these contents,
Like insidious stars in the night sky.

When the evening is spread out against the sky,
She will come for me-
Through certain half-deserted streets
Destiny shall make us meet.

Our love will shine through the ages,
As did the love of Orpheus and Eurydice!
Oh, do not ask, “Who are they?”
Let us go and make our visit.

Dearest Sophy- you know that infinity is but,
Just a shout into the void.
And that oblivion is inevitable,
Such that the sun will swallow the only Earth we’ll ever have.

When Randolph shall repent for his choice
And true love shall win
You will come and sweep me away,
Into the dawn of a new tomorrow.
